There are multiple types of
ringworm infections:
Barber's Itch - Covers the
bearded areas of the face and neck. Often swells and itchy.
This may cause the hair to break off.
Ringworm of the scalp - Most
commonly affects children and teenagers. It often causes bald
spots. It is most often spread in schools and large urban
environments. It spreads mainly from contaminated objects.
Jock Itch - It spreads from the
groin down to the thighs. It normally affects men, it causes
scaly, itchy, red patches.
Ringworm of the body - In all
areas of the body except the beard. It causes red scaly
patches. It occurs in everyone, with no preference for age or
gender
Athlete's Foot - The second
most common type of ringworm. It attacks both the skin of the
foot and the toenails. This is most commonly caught by walking
barefoot on contaminated floors such as gyms and around pools.
